Tutor Agreement
Last updated: 2026-06-05
This agreement governs your work as a tutor on Larnnit. It supplements the Terms of Service, the Acceptable Use Policy, the Refund Policy, and the Marketplace Seller Terms where you sell materials. By creating a tutor profile, accepting bookings, or offering classes, you accept these terms.
1. Eligibility & verification
- You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of contractual majority where you live, if higher).
- You must have the qualifications, experience, or institutional affiliation you claim. Larnnit may ask for verification documents and may revoke a tutor badge or account for misrepresentation.
- You must be authorised to work for yourself or be employed in a way that permits tutoring on the side under your local law.
2. Independent contractor
You are an independent contractor offering your own services to students. You are not an employee, agent, partner, or joint venturer of Larnnit. You are responsible for your own income tax, social-security contributions, business registration where required, and professional indemnity or other insurance you consider appropriate.
3. Your profile and listings
- Profile information (name, bio, photo, qualifications, subjects, prices) must be accurate and your own work.
- Don't plagiarise course descriptions or lesson outlines.
- Pricing is in the currency you set. Larnnit may display approximate conversions for buyers.
4. Conduct in lessons
- Show up on time. Prepare materials. Stick to the subject you advertised.
- Maintain a respectful, professional tone. Romantic or sexual contact with students is prohibited, even between adults; this protects both you and the student from later disputes.
- Don't single out under-18 students for private off-platform contact. Use Larnnit's tools for all academic communication with minors, and copy parents or guardians on substantive matters where reasonable.
- Don't complete graded work on a student's behalf or sit exams for them. Teach, don't cheat. (See Acceptable Use Policy §6.)
5. Cancellations
- If you need to cancel, give as much notice as possible — ideally 24+ hours.
- Tutor no-show or significant late arrival entitles the student to a full refund and may trigger a strike on your account.
- Repeated last-minute cancellations affect your ranking and may result in temporary or permanent removal.
- Larnnit reserves the right to cancel a booking on your behalf in clearly exceptional circumstances (verified bereavement, hospitalisation, force majeure) without penalty.
6. Recording
- Don't record a session without all participants' consent. Where you do record (with consent), tell participants how long you'll keep the recording and don't share it without further consent.
- Recording minors without verifiable parental consent is prohibited.
7. Payments & fees
- Larnnit's commission on tutor earnings is 35% of the booking price. The remaining 65% (after payment-processor fees) is credited to your wallet on session completion.
- Group classes and packaged courses follow the same commission unless we agree otherwise in writing.
- Refunds (see Refund Policy) reverse the corresponding tutor credit.
- Payouts require completed identity verification (KYC) and a valid bank account or mobile-money wallet.
8. Taxes
- You are responsible for declaring and paying tax on your earnings.
- Where the law requires Larnnit to withhold tax or to report your earnings, we will do so and tell you what we've reported.
- Provide accurate tax information when asked. False or missing tax information may delay payouts.
9. Materials and intellectual property
- You own the materials you create. Larnnit gets the licence described in Terms §4 to host and display them.
- You must have the right to use any third-party material (textbook extracts, journal articles, images) you share. Brief educational use under fair-use/fair-dealing rules is usually fine; wholesale copying of copyrighted texts is not.
- Students cannot resell or redistribute your materials. Larnnit will support enforcement where a student violates this.
10. Confidentiality of student information
- Treat student information you encounter — names, schools, learning challenges, grades — as confidential. Do not share it outside the tutoring context.
- Don't use it for marketing other services without the student's explicit consent.
11. Suspension & termination
- We may suspend or terminate your tutor profile for breach of this agreement, repeated complaints, fraud, child-safety concerns, or to comply with the law.
- You can close your tutor profile at any time. Already-booked sessions must be completed or properly cancelled with refunds.
12. Liability
- You are responsible for the academic quality of your sessions and for the accuracy of any information you give. Larnnit is not liable for the educational outcomes of your students.
- Larnnit's aggregate liability to you is limited as described in the Terms of Service.
13. Changes
We may change this agreement. Material changes affecting fees, payouts, or conduct are announced in-app and by email at least 14 days before they take effect.
