Accessibility Statement

Last updated: 2026-06-05

Larnnit is built to be usable by as many people as possible, including people with disabilities. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the European Accessibility Act, and Kenya's Persons with Disabilities Act (2003 as amended).

1. What we do

  • Keyboard-navigable interfaces with visible focus states.
  • Sufficient colour contrast (4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text and UI components) in both light and dark themes.
  • Semantic HTML and ARIA labels on interactive controls.
  • Alternative text on user-uploadable images is encouraged and inserted automatically where the platform generates the image.
  • Captions and transcripts on Larnnit-produced videos. Tutor-uploaded video supports user-provided captions.
  • Mobile screens announce content via VoiceOver (iOS) and TalkBack (Android). Touch targets meet platform minimums.
  • Text resizes and reflows; the app does not depend on a specific window size or orientation.

2. Known limitations

We are not yet perfect. Known gaps we are working on:

  • Some user-generated content (posts, comments, reels) does not include captions or alt text. We prompt creators to add them and are exploring auto-captioning.
  • Older reels uploaded before our caption-prompt feature lack captions.
  • Some third-party embeds (e.g. payment-processor checkout) follow their own accessibility standards which we don't control.

3. Assistive technology we test against

  • NVDA and JAWS on Windows + Chrome/Edge.
  • VoiceOver on macOS + Safari.
  • VoiceOver on iOS + Safari/Larnnit app.
  • TalkBack on Android + Chrome/Larnnit app.
  • Keyboard-only navigation, including on the marketplace and chat flows.

4. Report a barrier

If you hit something that locks you out — a control your screen reader can't reach, an unreadable contrast, a missing label — please tell us. We treat accessibility defects as bugs and fix them in priority.

  • Email accessibility@larnnit.com.
  • Describe the page (or the screen on mobile), the assistive technology you use, the version of your browser or OS, and what happened.
  • We acknowledge within 5 working days and tell you our planned timeline for a fix.

5. Formal complaint

If our response doesn't resolve the issue, you can escalate to a relevant national regulator: the European Commission's designated body in your country, the U.S. Department of Justice for ADA matters, or the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner of Kenya for combined privacy/accessibility concerns.

6. Continuous improvement

We audit Larnnit for WCAG compliance at least once a year and after major redesigns. We publish a summary of audit findings and our remediation timeline at this page.
